  • Como Park Golf Course, wwleslie wrote 2 years ago:
Como Park Golf Course is entirely within the City of St. Paul. Falcon Heights is an adjacent community, but no part of the golf course is in Falcon Heights.
  • Black Bear Crossings On the Lake, wwleslie wrote 2 years ago:
Black Bear Crossings doesn't exist anymore. The restaurant at the Como Lakeside Pavilion is now called Dock and Paddle.
  • Como Lake Pavilion, wwleslie wrote 2 years ago:
On the map, this facility is named Como Lake Pavilion. It should read Como Lakeside Pavilion.
  • Bison exhibits, wwleslie wrote 2 years ago:
The name of this facility on the map says Como Park Zoo. It should read Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
  • Weather Siren, PantherMac wrote 5 years ago:
I am not sure if this is a valid article, so it would be great if someone could explain it to me. This object does not move, but it is too small to have a well defined border so I wondered if it should actually be included. I know the locations of many of the weather sirens in the city and it might be interesting to add them, but I am not sure if it fits in with the rest of the objects on this map. I saw electricity pylon and other sort of similar objects in the categories menu, so I assumed it is in the same vein.

OMG! I just saw A SIMPLE PLAN because Bill Paxton died. Credits said interiors were shot an Energy Park. How things have changed around here since I reported on the Twin Cities as a hot production town years ago. Noticed Rando Schmook's credit for design. I recall him. Times change. Me? I'm Jim Stokes.

  • Hillcrest Shopping Center, Rick2Rio (guest) wrote 8 years ago:
Some of the early stores were Kingpin Grocery (later converted to Country Club Grocery, a Chinese restaurant, Pizza Papa and Guertins Drugs, more famous for their soda bar than pharmacy. There was an Army Surplus store across the street on the south side of the mall. Hafners bowling alley and restaurant were a little farther south, it was a great place in the 50's and 60's. It was sold several times in the 80's and 90's. story has it that it was a haven for drug dealing and was torn down because of that.

I worked for Country Club for 25 Years in the Minneapolis Stores. When I was 16 I ask my mother for the car to go job hunting (I really was going on a hot date) she said take me over to Country Club and apply there while she shopped. I Fiilled out a application, brought Mom home and went out on a date of a life time. Came home later in the afternoon and my Mother said Country Club called you got the Job. Well I got the Job and the Girl! The job lasted 25 years, the marriage is going on 44 years. Lots of fond memories working for Country Club. Mostly worked at the Bloomington Ave store 1967-70, Richfield 1970-71, West Broadway 1971-81 and Brooklyn Center store 1981 until it closed in 1992. Jim Cunningham

I looked all over for a Country Club Logo, macmoney, but can't find one. At one time, I had so much CCM stuff lying around. I still think back to those days in the 80s when CCM ruled. Can't say enough how much I miss the people.Yeah, even the Supervisors and Managers were Ok, too.
